A Day in the Divine Itria Valley of Puglia
Join us for tastings Locorotondo and Primitivo wines at a selection of 1 cellar and 1 oil mill representative of the territory.
Along our itinerary we will pass through various rows of white vineyards of Alessano and Verdeca.
Alberobello the fairyland will meet us with its trullis, little Kremlins, declared World Heritage by Unesco and with its museum of wine and the territory. Here an expert oenologist will explain the various production processes, from harvesting to bottling and the evolution of Pugliese vineyards.
Tasting of three cups of “Lui” included in the Gambero Rosso, the Italian famous wine guide with matched local salamis and cheeses.
After 9 km we arrive at Locorotondo with its typical round shape, concentric lanes and terraced whitewashed houses.
Tasting of Extra Virgin Oil in a “Slow Food” Masseria matched with local homemade products.
Lunch in a restaurant with the typical pugliese hospitality. (If you happen to spill some wine on the table cloth, don't be embarassed; its considered Good Luck!)
Meal will be fa four course including antipasti, primi (pasta or orecchiette - “little ears” made of kneaded flour), secondi (meat course/vegetables) & dolci (dessert) matched with local homemade oil and wine, plus water and coffee. Any additional courses, special wines or extras ordered will be at your expense.
In the afternoon Cisternino with its historical centre that has maintained a typical oriental aspect with little houses and stairs overlooking hidden yards and narrow lanes. Italian coffee on one of the balconies.
Our visit will terminate in Ostuni with its terrace gardens around the walls, a complex system of masserias and historical farmhouses and a wealth of precious vines in full regrowth thanks to the impulse given to rare original species like the Impigno and Ottavianello.
