A day in the Sagrantino Wine Area of Umbria

Join us for tastings Montefalco wines at a selection of three family vineyards and cellars sampling the region's award winning Sagrantino red wine as well as the lighter Montefalco Rosso - a blend of San Giovese, Merlot & Sagrantino, and the Umbrian white Trebbiano and Grechetto. In visits to wine cellars, private homes, villas and farmhouses as well as specialist tastings, whatever the ingredients, the accent is always on genuine flavours, real people and real wine.

A half day wine tour ending with an evocative meal, will take you off the beaten tourist trail to a selection of Montefalco's Sagrantino vineyards & family wine makers. The experience embraces the famous Italian traditions of hospitality and overeating with an enthusiasm for local and home produce. We fully exploit our local network of suppliers and providores, housewives and farmers to bring you into our territory via the table.

Tastings of local salamis and chesses are generally included at most cellars and a lunch or dinner with matched wines rounds off the total experience.

Additional options to fill the day include include a cooking class or visits to traditional fabric shops in Montefalco or to Deruta for ceramics. Or a local cooking class based on a variety of recipes rooted in ancient tradition and some of the finest natural produce in Italy.
